District stakeholders EPI performance review meeting.

The district health team called for a performance review meeting for non health stakeholders in mobilization and sensitization such as sub county chiefs ,community development officers, parish chiefs and LCs  at all levels.

GAVI  and the ministry of health are supporting coordination through such review meetings. This meeting was mainly focusing on immunization which is a means of protecting the human body against specific diseases by building up the body's defense system. This is achieved through administering vaccines either through the mouth or by injection.

District council holds last sitting

Today Mayuge District council bid farewell as they had the last sitting to discuss sector committee reports. The different committee of the district that includes Production, works , health, education as well as finance and planning discussed their reports on the performance of the different departments. It should be noted that most of the councilors lost in the recently concluded elections with a few coming back while the district executive had only one member succeeding in the elections.

Parliamentary committee visits Mayuge

The committee of parliament on gender, labor and social development today visited the district to assess the performance of government programs that is Youth livelihood program (YLP) and Uganda women's empowerment program (UWEP). The focus of their visit was mainly on how much money had been disbursed amongst the different groups in each of the programs, how much had been recovered by the district so far and whether the programs were a success or not.

Farmers receive cassava cuttings

Ooperation wealth creation together with the agricultural sector of Mayuge District local government has today 29 th April 2021  given out 3251 bags of cassava cuttings to farmers in the different sub counties of the district. The supply is timely considering that it's a season for planting and the rains are promising.

The cassava Variety is Narocass1 which is very resistant to cassava brown streak virus and cassava mosaic. It is also high yielding, and  early maturing which makes it so good in  the fight against famine in our communities.

Site handover ceremony of buyugu HCII to young Jin contractors took place today at buyugu health center in Bukabooli sub county.

 

A site meeting with the community was held at the site and speeches were made by the different stake holders. 

The opening Prayer was led by Ssalongo Bruhan a resident of buyugu village who blessed the meeting .

Introductions were then made to that effect.

commissioning piped water project and massive drug distribution in Bukabooli sub county

 Mayuge district was recently delightful as they were honored by the honouable state minister for health , Nabanja Rose who commissioned a piped water project in bukabooli sub county,a project  that was constructed by community with support from worldvision uganda and funded by KOICA  as well as massive drug distribution on the 21st april 2021.

District summit

world vision Uganda with support from Taiwan, got a funding proposal for an area program to be implemented in kigandalo sub county for a minimum period of 12 years addressing child well being barriers in sectors of health, education, child protection, Resilience and livelihood within the above sub county but also implementing some district wide activities where need be. The program assessment and design started in October 2020 and is slated to end September 2021.

Inception meeting for strong minds

Strong minds is an NGO that provides free group  talk therapy to low income women in Uganda. In Africa 66million women are suffering from depression and 85% have no access to treatment. Therefore strong minds will be scaling outreach through peer to peer therapy, phone based teletherapy,public education campaigns and partnerships. 
In Mayuge , strong minds will be working with women between 13 to 24years of age and these will include those in and out of school in both urban councils and lower local government. 

COVID-19 Vaccine

Today the traditional staff of Mayuge local government joined the rest of the essential workers to receive the Covid-19 vaccine after its launch in the district last month. Among those that received the vaccine was the Head of planning unit- The District planner Mr. Baligeya Ronald who said it was about time for him to live positively knowing that he has been vaccinated.
